Why I’m starting a blog

Hi! I’m Betty. I’m in my late 20s, incredibly active, and about 6 months ago I found my self in a lot more pain than I’m used to and unable to do a lot of things I love. My official injury diagnosis is that I herniated my L5/S1 and have a bulging disc at L4/L5.

Majority of images I have from these 6 months are with my dog and friends dogs so prepare for a lot of dog content as well.

My injury and journey evolved a lot in the last 6 months, and I wanted to start to document my official road to recovery. Until a week ago, I got progressively worse to the point I could barley walk to go to the bathroom. This eventually led me to get surgery for my herniated disc on March 14th, 2023. I relied on blogs, vlogs, and so much online content throughout my journey that I wanted to hopefully give back and give another perspective for others to read. Most likely if you are reading this, you’re lying on the floor in pain, wondering if it will ever get better. While I can’t say I’m 100% better, I am SO much better than I was post surgery. I wanted to talk through week by week updates as I heal and work towards getting back to 100%. While I’m excited to do this for myself to help me reflect, I also hope this helps someone else out there that’s going through this awful injury.

Each week, I’ll post a weekly update hopefully explaining my progress, mental state, and what I’ve been doing to help (or harm) my back. I’ve set a goal to be back working out and do my first weightlifting competition in exactly 1 year from now. Now that I’ve published it, I have to keep this up and do it right? Stay tuned!
